Every year we see a crab flow around the full and new moons of May, June and July that drives the Tarpon INSANE! For those of you unfamiliar with this phenomenon, every year thousands of Tarpon 80-200 lbs. migrate to Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande awaiting the “Hill Tide” to push crabs from inside Charlotte Harbor toward Boca Grande Pass. When this happens the Tarpon seem to go into a euphoric state of eating anything that resembles a crab as they fatten up to spawn.
