Ready for some nearshore action?

Nearshore Boca Grande fishing charters offer some of the most thrilling angling experiences in Southwest Florida. The term “near-shore” generally refers to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico a short distance out from shore, usually still within sight of land. Captain Danny offers fishing charters off the coast of Charlotte Harbor for Cobia, Kingfish, Gag Grouper, Permit, Red Grouper, Goliath Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail snapper, Amberjack, Spanish mackerel, False Albacore (bonito), Jack Crevalle, Flounder, Barracuda, and many varieties of shark, even an occasional Blackfin Tuna or Sailfish.

Charlotte Harbor mixes its fertile water with the open Gulf of Mexico feeding the massive schools of baitfish that hang off the mouth of the harbor year round. With such a tremendous amount of bait readily available, the Southwest Florida Gulf waters attract predatory fish of all size and species. Near-shore trips are not deepsea trips. They are run in a bay boat, in only calm conditions, and stay relatively close to shore. This will have no impact on the quality or quantity of fish caught. Nearshore Boca Grande fishing charters are some of the most active and consistent fishing charters that Florida has to offer. The action is fast and furious out in the open water, so weather you are a beginner, seasoned pro, or avid fly fisherman, there is fishing out there that fits your abilities.

The shark fishing is truly first class out there as well, with Hammerhead Sharks, Bull Sharks, Spinner Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, Brown Sharks, Nurse Sharks and Lemon Sharks just to name a few.

Bottom fishing for Grouper and Snapper is a sure way to get some great eating fish. For those of you that love to hear screaming drags, it is hard to beat the Gulfs pelagic fish such as Kingfish, Bonito, Mackerel, Jacks, Dorado and Permit. They feed close to the surface, fight tremendously hard and can make for unbelievably fast action. Sometimes the action is as fast as you can keep your lines rigged up on fish from 5 to 40 pounds.

The open Gulf is much more protected than the Atlantic so there are a lot more days Captain Danny’s charters can get out there and take advantage of the great fishing the Gulf has to offer. If it’s too rough though, the good news is his charters are only a few minutes away from some of the best flats fishing in the country so there are always good alternatives.
