The fishing this September is absolutely on fire! The redfish fishing is some of the best I have seen in recent years and the late season Boca Grande tarpon fishing is unbelievable! Snook are still in and around the passes. Snapper, Pompano and big trout continue to make it the table. All together Boca Grande fishing charters are tearing the fish up!
Boca Grande Fishing Charters
Like I said earlier Boca Grande fishing charters for redfish is some of the best I have seen in recent years. I have had multiple 50-100 fish days recently and even had a 38 fish day on fly! The early morning bite on artificial continues to be outstanding as the reds are readily smashing topwaters and crushing spoons. Live bait has been super effective as well and if I can get a school to stop and feed it is literally a fish every cast. Most of the fish are in the 5 lb. – 8lb range but I have been catching a ton of fish well over 30” and weighing over 15lbs. The redfish action on Boca Grande fishing charters should continue to produce these kind of numbers all the way thru October.
Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing
Boca Grande tarpon fishing has bee outstanding this late season. I have recently had multiple trips with over 10 hook ups and most of the fish are well over 100 pounds! The schools from early summer have broke up and thousands of fish are spread out all over Charlotte Harbor. Artificial baits like DOA Baitbusters and swim baits have been very effective as well as live ladyfish and cut mullet. Watching a 100 pound tarpon come up and smash a live ladyfish never gets old! These fish will stay here throughout the summer and the Boca Grande Tarpon fishing will be good into October.
Boca Grande fishing charters for snook have not changed much from August and have been very good lately. I continue to have 20 plus fish trips recently. Most of the fish are still averaging a 22″ -26″ but I have had multiple fish over 30”. Snook have gathered in large numbers around the passes and beaches. Scaled sardines, pinfish and grunts will, with out a doubt, be the baits of choice for snook in August. Unfortunately the 2013 snook season opened on September 1st. In my opinion this is a HUGE mistake on the part of the FWC. It’s not even close to being like it was before the freeze and it just demonstrates Florida’s continued lack of proper fishery management.
Snapper and pompano have also been making a good showing on recent Boca Grande fishing charters. I have been catching nice limits of both and these fish are fantastic table fare! My clients have been more than happy to to invite them home for dinner.
