The month of June ended the way it began with some stellar Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing! I had multiple double digit hook up days and no tropical storm to deal with! The other upside is that the boat traffic has REALLY gone down this last week, which is awesome. July is looking like it’s going to be really good.
Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing
The 2013 Boca Grande tarpon fishing season continues to be just phenomenal. Thousands of fish are still here in Southwest Florida, there are large schools still in the pass and beaches and tons of fish have already moved into Charlotte Harbor to feed after they have spawned. These fish will stay here throughout the summer and the Boca Grande Tarpon fishing will be good thru September.
Boca Grande tarpon fishing will be the focus of Boca Grande fishing charters through July but they are here all the way through September and into October. Every day is not like the crazy numbers that I had throughout June but that will give you an idea of just how good the Boca Grande Tarpon fishing is. If you are looking to book a Boca Grande tarpon fishing charter I still have a few openings left in July. I would love to show you the strength, grace and sheer beauty of the “Silver King”.
Boca Grande Fishing Charters
Boca Grande fishing charters for snook have been very good lately as well. I have had multiple 30-50 plus fish trips on the few days that I have not been tarpon fishing. Most of the fish are still averaging a 22″ -26″ but I have had multiple fish well over 30”. Snook have gathered in large numbers around the passes and beaches. As the passes begin to fill up July will be a fantastic month to go in search of snook and the action should be red hot! Scaled sardines, pinfish and grunts will, with out a doubt, be the baits of choice for snook in July but artificial and fly will also get their fair share. Unfortunately the 2013 snook season will open on September 1st. In my opinion this is a HUGE mistake on the part of the FWC. It’s not even close to being like it has been and it just demonstrates Florida’s continued lack of proper fishery management.
Redfish fishing has continued to stay very good. Most of the schools have broke up and the fish have spread out especially on the high tides. The reds have been going to the trees lately and if you have never played tug-o-war with a big red determined to break you off it’s an absolute blast! Sometimes you win; sometimes you don’t, that’s fishing! I have had multiple 15-20 fish days recently on Boca Grande fishing charters and that should continue throughout July. Most of the fish are still averaging 5-7 pounds but I have had a lot of fish well over the 10 lb. mark. Live sardines (aka whitebait), pinfish and cut ladyfish have all been top producers.
