The first few days of June started with a bang! I jumped a whopping 17 on the 1st and 16 on the 3rd. For those of you who don’t know much about Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing, that’s really good! Since then we have had a tropical storm brewing in the gulf and bringing tons of wind and rain with it, basically putting a stop to tarpon fishing for the time being but Don’t worry! Boca Grande Tarpon fishing will be back in full swing in a few days as the storm passes and I expect the Boca Grande tarpon fishing to continue to be outstanding.
Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing
I have to honestly say that the 2013 Boca Grande tarpon fishing season has been phenomenal so far. Thousands of fish have migrated to the area and I am seeing good numbers of fish in places that I have not seen very many for a couple of years. I have been catching fish in Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island sound, the beaches from Fort Myers to almost Venice and Boca Grande pass. That’s a lot of area and a lot of fish. It makes fishing really nice because that spreads out the anglers and gives me the opportunity to fish different techniques and avoid crowds.
Boca Grande tarpon fishing will be the focus of Boca Grande fishing charters through July but they are here all the way through September and into October. Every day is not like the crazy numbers that I had at the beginning of June but that will give you an idea of just how many tarpon are here in the Boca Grande area. If you are looking to book a Boca Grande tarpon fishing charter I still have a few openings left in June and July. I would love to show you the strength, grace and sheer beauty of the “Silver King”.
Boca Grande Fishing Charters
Boca Grande fishing charters for snook have been very good lately as well. I have had multiple 30-50 plus fish trips on the few days that I have not been tarpon fishing. Most of the fish are still averaging a 22″ -26″ but I have had multiple fish well over 30″ and some over 40” weighing as much as 25lbs. Snook have gathered in large numbers and have begun their migration to the passes and beaches. As the passes begin to fill up June will be a fantastic month to go in search of snook and the action will be red hot! Scaled sardines, pinfish and grunts will, with out a doubt, be the baits of choice for snook in June but artificial and fly will also get their fair share. The 2013 snook season remains closed and hopefully will remain closed for at least a few more seasons so that these fantastic fish can continue to flourish.
Redfish fishing has continued to stay very good. Most of the schools have broke up and the fish have spread out especially on the high tides. The reds have been going to the trees lately and if you have never played tug-o-war with a big red determined to break you off it’s an absolute blast! Sometimes you win; sometimes you don’t, that’s fishing! I have had multiple 15-20 fish days recently on Boca Grande fishing charters and that should continue throughout June. Most of the fish are still averaging 5-7 pounds but I have had a lot of fish well over the 10 lb. mark. Live sardines (aka whitebait), pinfish and cut ladyfish have all been top producers.
