We have had quit the warm spell in Boca Grande and Cape Coral this past week. Temperatures were in the mid to upper 70’s making water temps go up and the fish are loving it. The snook action has been great, redfish are chewing and the nearshore bite has been on fire when the wind isn’t blowing.
The recent warm weather has brought the bait in and the snook have been going crazy for it. This is one of my favorite times of year to target big snook. As water temps rise snook begin to come out of their winter haunts with one thing in mind FOOD! Having a nice well of lively bait get these fish all fired up and you can truly have a fishing experience of a lifetime. Recent fishing charters have had well over 50 fish days with the average fish being around 22″-24″ and 30″ plus snook making a regular appearance
Redfish are a lot more tolerant to the cold weather than snook but they also tend to get more active as the water warms up. Recent fishing charters have produced some 10-15 fish days with most of the fish in the 24″ range.
Trout fishing has been very consistent as well. Our typical fishing charter will see 10-20 trout varying in size from 12″ -22″.
The nearshore fishing has been on fire. Lots of nice snapper and grunts have been coming aboard on recent fishing charters. Unfortunately i need pretty calm weather to get out there.
