February 2021 brought an extended warm spell to the Boca Grande and Cape Coral areas, with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Rising water temperatures triggered increased fish activity across multiple species, with strong snook action, active redfish, and a productive nearshore bite whenever winds allowed.
Snook – February 2021
The warm weather pushed bait into the area and snook responded aggressively. As water temperatures increased, snook began moving out of their winter holding areas and focused heavily on feeding. This period produced excellent action, with many fish averaging 22–24 inches and consistent appearances from larger snook over 30 inches. When conditions lined up, fast-paced days with high catch numbers were common.
Redfish – Late Winter Pattern
Redfish remained active throughout the warm spell, showing increased feeding behavior as water temperatures climbed. While more tolerant of cooler conditions than snook, redfish became noticeably more aggressive during this stretch. Most fish averaged around 24 inches, with steady action and productive days throughout the area.

Trout – Consistent Action
Trout fishing stayed very consistent during February, with steady numbers of fish ranging from 12–22 inches. Cooler mornings followed by warmer afternoons created ideal conditions for trout to feed, making them a reliable option throughout the month.

Nearshore Bite – When Weather Allowed
Nearshore fishing produced excellent action during periods of calm weather. Snapper, grunts, and mixed reef species were active, offering a welcome change of pace from inshore fishing. Wind remained the biggest limiting factor, but favorable windows delivered strong results.
