As we got into November the temperatures have cooled off a little but fishng in Boca Grande is still getting some hot rod bending action. Reds are still chewing it up, Snook are big and fattening up for winter and the big trout have started to show up. November on the flats is looking pretty good!
Boca Grande Fishing Charters
Snook fishing continues to rack up some big boys! I am still averaging 20-30 fish a day with the average fish being 24″-26″ and weighing around 5lb-6lbs. Fishing for big snook has been very good lately as well. I have had a ton of fish in the 28″ to 30″ range and have been regularly catching fish well over 36″. Snook season remains open until the end of this month so if you want to get some big snook, get out there before it closes!
The cooler temperatures at the beginning of November caused most of the schools to begin to break up and there are scattered groups on almost every flat. My numbers are down a little from October but I am still able to average about 20 fish a day. Most of the fish are in the 5lb. – 10lb. range and 24″ – 30”. Live bait continues to be the ticket to put up big numbers but the artificial bite is still really good. The redfish action should continue to be very good for the rest of November.
The one thing I like about the cooler weather is that it brings the big trout! I am already starting to see some very nice trout move onto the flats all around Charlotte Harbor. I am not catching any true giants yet but 22″-24″ fish seem to be pretty common. These bigger trout fight well and make great table fare.
Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing
Tarpon fishing here in Boca Grande is pretty much over for 2014 so you will have to wait until next year. My 2015 calendar is already starting to book up fast for May and June so if you are planning to go tarpon fishing in 2015 start planning now!
