Where We Fish on Our Family Fun Charters
Our Family Fun Fishing trips explore the calm, protected waters around Boca Grande, Punta Gorda, and Charlotte Harbor—perfect for kids and first-time anglers. Instead of running way offshore, we stay inshore and backcountry where the ride is smoother, the water is shallower, and the fish are plentiful.
Depending on the weather, tide, and what’s biting best that day, we may fish:
-
Grass flats and mangrove shorelines in Charlotte Harbor
-
Bays and passes around Boca Grande
-
Creek mouths, points, and channels near Punta Gorda
-
Protected backcountry areas where kids can see dolphins, rays, and seabirds
Before your trip, Captain Danny will choose the most comfortable and convenient launch location based on where you’re staying and the day’s conditions. The goal is always the same:
short boat rides, calm water, and lots of action for the kids.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – FAMILY FUN FISHING
1. Are these trips good for young kids and beginners?
Absolutely. These charters are designed specifically for families, kids, and first-time anglers. We use light tackle, simple techniques, and focus on fast action so everyone can catch fish and have fun—no experience needed.
2. What ages are welcome on the boat?
All ages are welcome. There is no minimum age for kids. Children 6 and under must wear a Coast Guard–approved life jacket the entire time on the boat (per insurance rules), so please bring a properly fitted life jacket from home.
3. How many people can come on a Family Fun trip?
Rates include 1–2 adults and up to 3 kids (12 & under), with a maximum of 5 anglers total on the boat. If you have a special situation or larger group, just let Captain Danny know and he’ll do his best to accommodate you.
4. What should we bring on our trip?
Bring polarized sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, a light jacket, snacks, and any drinks your family prefers. Don’t forget your phone or camera for photos—there will be plenty of smiles and fish to capture. If you’re bringing small children, pack any comfort items they might need (snacks, wipes, etc.).
5. Do we need to bring our own rods or tackle?
No. All rods, reels, bait, and tackle are provided, including light spinning outfits from Penn and Fenwick that are easy for kids to handle. You’re welcome to bring a favorite rod if you’d like, but it’s not required.
6. Will we get seasick on these trips?
Family Fun Fishing trips stay inshore in protected waters, not far offshore in big waves. Most days are calm and comfortable, and seasickness is rare. If anyone in your family is sensitive, you can talk with the Captain about the best time of day and conditions.
7. Can we keep the fish we catch?
When seasons and regulations allow, you may be able to keep a few fish for dinner. Many families choose to catch and release so kids can catch more fish and help protect the fishery. Captain Danny will advise what’s legal and best for the fishery on the day of your trip.
8. What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety always comes first. If conditions are not safe or comfortable for your family, Captain Danny will reschedule your trip or adjust the timing. During bad storms or strong winds, he may recommend another day for the best experience.
