Backcountry, Flats & Bay Fishing

Want to go Flats Fishing?

While fishing for tailing Redfish on the open grass flats or giant Snook around mangrove lined islands and creeks, Flats Fishing is just plain FUN!! Thirty to forty fish are the average but 100+ fish days are not uncommon. Topping the list of species are Snook, Redfish, Trout, Cobia, Snapper, Pompano and Sharks. No matter what your fishing experience is, anyone can get in on the action. This is a great family trip, where kids are welcome and restrooms are never too far away.

For those of you who are not familiar with Flats Fishing let’s just say it’s night and day difference from Offshore / Deep Sea Fishing. No one ever gets sick from being too rough. That’s because most of our Flats Fishing is done in water less than 5 feet deep and it remains calm on even the windiest of days. Now I know some of you out there are thinking “How Big of a Fish Can I Catch in Water That Shallow?” Well take a look at some of the photos and tell me what you think.

Inshore Fishing Charters

The inshore waters(also referred to as “back bay” “backwater” and “Flats”)of Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande and Pine Island Sound offer endless saltwater grass flats and undeveloped mangrove lined shorelines with tons of creeks, oyster bars and rivers running through them that help make up this pristine estuary. Charlotte Harbor is one of the country’s largest estuaries and home to some of the country’s most sought after game fish. Shallow water fishing enthusiasts have descended upon its shallow flats for decades in search of Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon and many other species that abound in this unique and fertile ecosystem. With today’s conservation initiatives, the fishing has never been better.

Captain Danny obeys all state laws and regulations. These rules are in place to ensure that the Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande area remains one of the top fishing destinations in the world. With that said he will be more than glad to clean a nice day’s catch so that you can enjoy eating your catch and since there is such a large variety of good eating fish to choose from bringing home a nice fish dinner shouldn’t be a problem.

Shore Lunch

There are number of wonderful restaurants on the water in the Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande area. Many of these fine dining establishment offer to “Cook Your Catch.” This unique experience has quickly become a client favorite and there’s lot to be said about a nice self-caught fish diner. This is a must for those who want to truly experience Southwest Florida at its best.
